The scene was a Port Credit coffee shop, it was 2009, Dan Meadowcroft and Frank Bailey chatted. They came to the topic of hungry children in our very own communities and figured there had to be a way to raise money and collect for the local food bank.

Shortly after, a small group of equally caring people - Ellen Timms (Port Credit BIA), Charles Sousa MPP, Pat Anderson (Westaire) - sat with Dan and Frank in the lighthouse to discuss the possibility of having a family friendly dinner to further the cause. Frank suggested the brand; Pat offered sponsorship; Charles volunteered the Turkey Drive; Ellen shared the lighthouse as home base and would coordinate the money raised; Dan set out to make the arrangements for the dinner. 'Twas the Bite Before Christmas was born!

Last year alone, through a series of 'Twas the Bite Before Christmas events in Port Credit, $60,000 was raised along with tons of food collected and 800 turkeys were given out to hungry families.

Charitable acts don't just enrich individuals who receive; they serve as a uniquely powerful focal point for fellowship. Dan's objective when founding 'Twas the Bite Before Christmas was to create something inclusive that would connect with the community's natural impulse to give. No child should ever have to go to school hungry.

Celebrating our 9th anniversary, the Port Credit community once again will come together with the purpose of Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope.

Together we will make a difference
